Rapides Parish Detention Center III Releases

To find someone released from Rapides Parish Detention Center III, begin with the sentence and the dated local release or transfer entry. The facility is described as holding sentenced offenders, so completion, diminution, court modification, program movement, and transfer may all be relevant. None should be inferred from the building alone. Rapides Parish booking records show when the local placement ended, court minutes explain local authority, and Louisiana corrections records control a state sentence. The destination decides whether the person returned to the community or stayed in custody elsewhere.

Center III Release Destinations

RPSO describes Rapides Parish Detention Center III as a sentenced-offender facility. A person may leave when a local term ends, after a lawful court change, or through a move tied to state custody or programming. An internal transfer to another Rapides center does not end custody. Neither does transfer to DPS&C, another parish, USMS, BOP, or ICE. The end of the Center III booking and the end of the full sentence can therefore be different events.

The key record fields are release date and time, authority or type, and destination. A destination showing the community may support a physical release, while a named agency or facility shows continuing custody. If the person remains under parole or another form of supervision, release from the building is not full discharge. Ask for the record that states whether supervision began, continued, or closed.

Sentence check: a Center III departure does not prove the full term ended unless the controlling sentence or discharge record says so.

Confirm a Center III Release

The official RPSO app routes a known-person search to New World Inmate Inquiry. Leave “In Custody” unchecked to include completed bookings. Search by name, subject number, booking number, date range, or assigned facility, then open the full booking. The detail can show an exact Release Date and time along with prisoner type, assigned facility, charges, bond data, and prior booking history. Match those facts to Center III and the correct custody episode.

The current LAVNS roster cannot answer a historical release question by itself. It is built around present custody, and absence from it has several possible causes. Use a record sequence:

  1. Open the correct Center III booking with “In Custody” left unchecked.
  2. Record the booking number, booking time, release timestamp, facility, and charge or docket references.
  3. Ask RPSO Jail Records for the release authority, type, destination, and any transfer document.
  4. Compare the sentencing and later court minutes with the physical release entry.
  5. Check DPS&C or another named receiving agency when custody continued.

For all local and outside channels, use the Rapides Parish released-inmate search. VINE may show state custody or community supervision, but it is not a certified discharge document and DPS&C says its information updates every 24 hours.

Center III Release Records

Identify Center III in every call or request. Include the person, booking number if known, and a narrow date span. Jail Records lists 318-449-5453 for jail records and calculation of parish time. The official RPSO contact point can route the inquiry. DOC Classification & Billing lists 318-449-5452, a useful contact when a person placed locally is legally in DPS&C custody. Request existing documents, not a new explanation.

A focused request seeks the jail card, release or transfer record, exact timestamp, authority, destination, and charge or docket references. Ask whether the person completed a parish term, moved within the Rapides system, entered DPS&C custody, or began community supervision. Electronic format and a cost estimate can be requested. Lawful redactions may still protect confidential material.

RPSO publishes general business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. No official Center III release schedule, gate, waiting zone, or property process was found. Confirm the right office and visit details before traveling.

Center III Sentenced Population

The sheriff says Center III houses about 381 sentenced offenders. That figure is a published description, not a live count. It makes sentence completion and calculation especially relevant, but it does not establish how any one person left. Diminution, sometimes called good time, can reduce an eligible term under Louisiana law. Court action, a hold, loss of credit, transfer, or state authority can change the expected path.

For a purely local sentence, RPSO and the sentencing court control the useful records. For a state sentence, DPS&C controls computation even when the person is housed locally. Its telephone locator can provide a projected date when applicable. A projected date may change and is not the actual Center III release timestamp. Final discharge and active community supervision also remain distinct.

Federal Transfers from Center III

The USMS detention-services agreement names the Rapides detention facility at 700 Murray Street, the Center I address. A Center III person may therefore move to Center I before federal custody continues. Ask RPSO to identify each local movement and the agency that ultimately received the person. The last Center III date alone cannot show the federal outcome.

Use the federal docket or USMS route for a federal pretrial transfer. Use the BOP locator for a federal sentence or release history. A BOP past release date and “RELEASED” location mean no current BOP custody, while “IN TRANSIT” does not. If ICE received the person, the ICE locator can assist, but no result is inconclusive.

Note: Federal or immigration transfer closes a local placement without proving that the person returned to the community.

Rapides Multi-Site Release Chain

The official parish directory lists Detention Centers I, II, and III plus the transitional work program. A booking may include more than one site. Center I is intake, Center II has a contract-labor role, Center III houses sentenced offenders, and TWP is a custody placement with community work access. Each move should be recorded by date and destination.

Name Center III and ask Jail Records to search linked records across the whole system. Center II and TWP share an address and telephone, so those labels matter if the history continues there. The Center I release page details the intake and mixed-authority step that may appear before or after a Center III placement.

Center III Court Confirmation

The Ninth Judicial District record can establish the sentence, credit for time served, probation, later modification, dismissal, warrant, or other legal action. RPSO documents the physical Center III departure. Follow the RAPID E-Search access instructions, then match the judgment or minutes to the booking. Online redacted copies are not certified, and certified copies must be requested by mail or in person.

One order may not resolve every hold. A sentence ending on one case can be followed by another parish, state, federal, or immigration custody. Compare all charge and docket references. The strongest proof uses the court action, the local release or transfer timestamp, and the next custodian’s record when one is named.

Center III Sentence Terms

Sentence language needs care. “Time served” usually means the court credited enough custody to meet the imposed jail component. “Diminution” is a lawful reduction of an eligible term and can involve later supervision. “Parole” is conditional release authorized through the state parole process. “Transfer” changes the custodian. “Discharge” means the controlling record says the sentence or supervision term ended.

Community release
A departure supported by a destination showing return outside institutional custody, with any supervision stated separately.
Transfer
A move to another Rapides site or to DPS&C, another parish, a federal agency, or ICE.
Detainer
A request or authority that can keep custody in place for another agency after the local matter changes.
Discharge
The documented end of the sentence or supervision term, which is narrower than a local booking release.

Use “released from Center III” when only the local timestamp is known. Reserve “fully discharged” for a court, DPS&C, or supervision record that actually says the term closed. LAVNS can show community supervision after physical release, but the assigned office is the better source for public status confirmation.

Center III Release Evidence

A disputed Center III release is best resolved in a set order. First, identify the full booking episode and read the New World release timestamp. Second, obtain the RPSO release or transfer record if the reason or destination is not public online. Third, compare the sentencing minutes and any later Ninth Judicial District order. Last, follow the named receiving agency and check for active supervision. This order keeps a current roster, a court order, and a physical release record in their proper roles.

Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure article 228 makes the booking book and booking summaries open for public inspection. La. R.S. 44:3 also preserves public access to core booking records while protecting specified investigative material. Those rules support a narrow request for an existing Center III booking and release entry. They do not promise that every desired sentence or destination field appears in one online screen. Ask for a redacted or segregable copy if part of the responsive record is withheld.

State records can remain after a web result changes. La. R.S. 44:36(E) requires Corrections Services to retain adult-offender records through six years after full-term sentence expiration or six years after death, whichever comes first. That rule applies to DPS&C records, not to the sheriff’s public web display. It is one reason to request the state discharge or supervision record when a sentenced person’s older Center III history is no longer easy to find online.
